At the Homecoming game on Friday, there were a lot of examples of projectile motion. Every time the ball was thrown or kicked, it moved in both the positive X and Y direction. If I were to draw vectors, vector X would be pointing forward and vector Y would be pointing up. At the top of every arc motion made by the ball, it only moved in the X direction and there was no vector Y, because the ball stopped rising. Then as the ball completed the arc, vector X remained the same and vector Y reappeared, but pointing down, because the ball was traveling forward and falling at the same time.
